Ms. Wolf's Language Arts Class
April 30, 2012:  Today, we reviewed using Possessive Pronouns.  Students worked on finishing their four paragraph using their Graphic Organizers.  Those students who did not complete theirs today were asked to take them home today and finish their writing to turn in tomorrow at the beginning of the class.  They also have a 4 question "Edit Respone" to complete as they review their writings.
April 27, 2012
The past few days we have worked on identifying Singular Possessive Nouns.
Also, students used a graphic organizer to organize main ideas and details for writing a summary of informational text.  We began writing our four paragraphs today and will continue on Monday.  Today, they also took a "pop quiz review" on identifying common and proper nouns.  Please encourage your child to keep reading every day.

Students completed the quiz on the story we have read.  We also continued to work on recognizing and using adverbs to modify verbs.
April 20, 2012
Today, we reviewed adverbs and how they modify verbs.  Also, we continued on the story:
The Gold Cadillac.  We finished the story, reviewed and changed our predications (if we had to) on our anticipatory guide.  We also discussed the theme of this story.  Students have a quiz over this story on Monday.  Please encourage your child to read every day.
Thank you and have a grand weekend.
April 19, 2012
Today, we reviewed identifying adverbs that modified the verbs in sentences and students also had to answer whether the adverb was answering the question "when", "where" or "how".  We reviewed our quizzes students took on Tuesday.  Also, we continued with our story we are reading and plan to complete the story tomorrow.  Please ask you child about the story.  Students are making predictions on what they think will happen as we continue through the story.
April 18th, 2012
Today, students reviewed parts of speech: identifying nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.  Also, they began to read the story today, using a guided reading response sheet.
We will continue with our story tomorrow.
April 16, 2012
Our class has been working on combining simple sentences into more complex sentences.
We will have a short quiz on this tomorrow.  We are continuing to work on identifying subjects, predicates.  This week we are reading a novella. Students are also to bring an outside reading book to class daily. In our Language! unit, we are working on identifying nouns, verbs (subjects and predicates) along with multiple meanings of words.
April 17, 2012
Today the students completed their quiz.  We began an anticipatory guide for our novella we will read in class.   Students are also to bring their reading book to class daily, as they will be doing an outside class project on a book of their choice (with my approval).
